Dornier MedTech (Dornier), a leader in the global urology marketplace, secured CE mark approval for Thulio, the world’s first 100 W high power advanced thulium laser with proprietary RealPulse technology and Captive mode. The groundbreaking new system offers the highest peak power at 3.7 kW and the shortest pulses among other pulsed thulium lasers.

Developed by Dornier, Thulio is the first pulsed solid-state thulium laser delivering 300 Hz and excellent fine dusting capabilities. Equipped with RealPulse technology, Thulio offers unmatched thulium peak power for the best fragmenting experience. In studies conducted during the development of the system, Thulio has been shown to have virtually no retropulsion thanks to the incorporation of Dornier’s Captive mode.

Prof. Arkadiusz Miernik MD, PhD, FEBU, MHBA Director of the Division of Urotechnology of the Department of Urology at the University of Freiburg – Medical Center, commented:
“”The CE approval of the Thulio laser represents a great opportunity for the medical community to treat patients with a laser that merges the exceptional fragmenting and enucleation performance of a high-power holmium laser, and the high frequency and fine dusting capability of a thulium fiber laser. I am confident that the preclinical data that my team and I have collected during its development stage will also be reflected positively in daily endourological procedures. I look forward to using the Thulio in various clinical settings.”

“As we, Dornier, gear up to amplify our urology portfolio, one of the ambitions was to invent a novel laser with cutting-edge thulium laser technology, a laser that would meet all the needs of a urologist in today’s world for stone management and BPH treatment. So, here we have Thulio – offering peak performance at speed and an exceptional user experience. We are very proud to bring this radical innovation to the market in Europe and other countries that accept the CE mark,”

said Yau Chung Wong, Chief Operating Officer of Dornier MedTech.

A new range of fibers and accessories developed to complement the Thulio were also granted CE mark approval. Built for precision and best energy transmission, Dornier Thulio’s Performance FlexFiber Collection encompasses a wide range of sizes and various designs tailored to satisfy physicians’ needs and preferences.

Since the CE mark approval, the Dornier Thulio will make its first official appearance at the American Urological Association’s 2022 Annual Meeting in May.
