Singapore, 28 February 2025 \u2013 Dornier MedTech, A*STAR Institute of High Performance Computing (A*STAR IHPC), Singapore Biodesign, MedTech Catapult and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH), have signed a Research Collaboration Agreement to develop smart tools\/systems to support laser lithotripsy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Addressing Global Urological Challenge<\/span><\/h5>

Urological disorders affect over 900 million people worldwide, posing significant health challenges. This partnership seeks to develop innovative tools and effective care pathways to enhance patient outcomes. This innovation originated from the UroXChallenge, a platform led by Dornier MedTech in collaboration with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and the National Health Innovation Centre Singapore (NHIC) to promote advancements in urology.<\/span><\/p>

Looking Ahead<\/span><\/h5>

This partnership harnesses multidisciplinary expertise across computational fluid dynamics, and mechanical product system development & integration to address an unmet need in laser lithotripsy. This partnership represents a shared vision for transforming healthcare delivery through sustainable medical innovation. By combining expertise across research, clinical care, and industry, the participating organisations aim to create meaningful solutions that benefit patients globally while fostering a vibrant ecosystem for MedTech innovation.<\/span><\/p>

Participating Institutions<\/span><\/h5>

Dornier MedTech:<\/strong> A global leader in stone management and the pioneer of Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy (ESWL) technology, Dornier leads the charge in building a collaborative community to tackle pressing challenges in urology.<\/span><\/p>

Ng Teng Fong General Hospital:<\/strong> Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, together with Jurong Community Hospital, are designed and built together from the ground up as an integrated healthcare development. The hospitals are envisioned to transform the way healthcare is provided to the community and designed to deliver patient-centred services in a seamless and integrated manner. Patients benefit from the co-management by healthcare teams from both hospitals in addition to integrated medical records and treatment plans.<\/span><\/p>

MedTech Catapult:<\/strong> MedTech Catapult (MC) is a national initiative designed to accelerate the product development and commercialisation of high-value life science instruments and regulated medical devices. MC partners with product owners, local contract manufacturers (CMs), and leverages external design houses, and other key stakeholders to guide innovations from concept to market. Their goal is to strengthen Singapore\u2019s medtech ecosystem by providing dedicated engineering, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, clinical affairs, project management and commercialisation support to derisk and support products towards commercialisation and market adoption whilst supporting pull-through to local manufacturing.<\/span><\/p>

A*STAR Institute of High Performance Computing:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

Established in 1998, IHPC is A*STAR\u2019s premier research institute for computational modelling, simulation & artificial intelligence (AI), combining multidisciplinary capabilities under one roof to push new frontiers in science and technology to solve major scientific, industrial and societal challenges.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
