Dornier MedTech to launch its Opus II digital urology imaging system at the American Urological Association’s 2002 annual meeting

ATLANTA, GA – MAY 15, 2002 – Dornier MedTech, a leading urologic equipment manufacturer and the inventor of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, will premier its new, highly advanced Opus II urotable at the upcoming American Urological Association’s 2002 annual meeting in Orlando, Fla., May 26 – 29.

The international award-winning urology suite, which is used for a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic urological procedures, will now offer single or dual high-resolution, flat-panel monitors with a 16" image intensifier. The user-friendly carbon fiber table design is thin and light weight, featuring the shortest tabletop and smallest footprint in the industry.

"The Opus II will measurably improve patient management for both the urologist and anesthesiologist," says Brian Walsh, general manager for Dornier MedTech America. "The all-digital system provides zero-bladder cutoff, so physicians are able to obtain high quality, fluoroscopic patient images to the very end of the table. Plus, the urotable’s X-ray function moves north-south/east-west, not the patient. This ensures extreme patient safety, while optimizing patient positioning and accessibility," he added.

The Opus II also features right- and left-hand table configurations and automated controls for simple physician interface.
