SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA – MAY 11, 2004 – The inventor of extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL), Dornier MedTech, introduced the latest addition to its technologically advanced lithotripters, the Compact Sigma, on May 9 during the 99th annual American Urological Association meeting in San Francisco, California.

The Compact Sigma, is a distinctive, modular, shock wave system with many technologically advanced features.  Features include a 140 mm electromagnetic shock wave source, a flexible over- and under-table therapy head and the motorized Dornier Relax+ patient table.  The Compact Sigma is ideal for all ESWL applications and is now available for purchase in the American, European and Asian markets.

“As a global leader in lithotripsy technology, Dornier is excited to offer the multi-functional capability and features offered by the Compact Sigma.  This innovative product allows us to leverage our technology in expanding our portfolio,” says Ho Sing, CEO.

“The modular flexibility and multi-functionality are key benefits of the Compact Sigma,” says Brian Walsh, President of Dornier MedTech America.  “When ultrasound, X-Ray imaging, endoscopic tower and lasers are added, the result is a full-service urologic workstation.”

The Compact Sigma is designed to couple both mechanically and with laser-guided alignment to ensure quick, easy and precise coupling with standard surgical C-arms.
