Medilas D MultiBeam - Description

The Dornier Medilas D MultiBeam is a 80 watt (peak pressure) diode continuous wave laser with a 940 nm wavelength. This state-of-the-art , high performance laser uses Power Bar technology and 940 nm wavelength making this versatile system ideal for endovenous laser treatment for varicose veins, superficial veins, ENT applications and a variety of surgical applications. The Medilas D MultiBeam also includes unique safety features including the LPS, Light guide Protection System and Fibertom cutting mode.

Diode Power Bar Technology

Power Bar technology uses individual bars of high performance diodes which are combined into a single block with integral cooling. The laser light generated is focused by micro-optics and coupled directly into the laser fiber.

Diode Benefits

  • Higher efficiency
  • Long operating life and easier servicing

Surgical Techniques

The Dornier Medilas D MultiBeam, together with the wide range of laser

delivery systems and laser-compliant instruments, available allows many

different surgical techniques to be performed.

  • Non-contact coagulation
  • Interstitial coagulation
  • Haemostasis
  • Contact cutting with and without Fibertom
  • Contact vaporization
  • Non-contact vaporization

Aesthetic Applications

Using the attachable handpiece, The Dornier Medilas MultiBeam can be used to treat vascular lesions.

AngioSpot

Unlike conventional short wave laser systems, the Medilas D

MultiBeam can be used to reliably occlude larger vessel lumens.

The lower melanin absorption makes treatments possible that are far gentler to the skin and less painful for patients.  The AngioSpot has three spot diameter attachments, 0.5 mm, 1.0 mm, 1.5 mm.  An extremely wide range of vascular treatments can be carried out effictively with very few side effects including:

  • Spider Veins
  • Telangiectasia
  • Hemangiomas

Surgical Applications

The 940 wavelength of the Dornier Medilas D MultiBeam is ideal for endovenous laser treatment.  The procedure is a revolutionary, minimally invasive treatment for the removal of varicose veins.  The Dornier Medilas D MultiBeam is also highly effective for use in the following areas:

  • Phlebology
  • ENT
  • Urology
  • Laser Induced Thermal Therapy (LITT)
  • Gynecology
  • Neurosurgery
  • Orthopedics
  • Gastroenterology
  • Pulmonology
  • Hemangioma
  • Pediatric Surgery

Unique Safety Features

The Dornier Medilas D MultiBeam offers unique safety features.  The LPS, Light guide Protection System, immediately powers off the laser if excessive carbonization occurs at the applicator tip.  This ensures that the applicator tip is not destroyed by overheating inside the body and reduces the risk of tissue damage.  The Fibertom cutting mode offers optimized cutting quality and keeps the fiber tip temperature within defined limits.

Easy to Use

The Dornier Medilas D MultiBeam is easy to use.  A graphic display shows all functions and parameters which can be selected or changed by the push of a button including time functions, irradiation dose and various application modes.  Application set-up is quick and easy with stored treatment parameters and irradiation programs.

Ergonomic Design

The compact design, low weight and functional layout of the Dornier Medilas D MultiBeam results in high portability and flexible use.  The telescopic pull-out handle and wheel base allow the unit to be transported easily and the small footprint enables the unit to fit almost anywhere including a table top, endoscopy rack, ceiling mount and more.

Cost-Effective

The most obvious characteristic of the diode laser is its high economy.  Increased reliability and low maintenance costs are a result of the exceptionally long operating life of the diodes and the system design which does not use a pump lamp.

  • Low operational costs due to long service life
  • Low power consumption due to extremely high efficiency level
  • Low space requirement due to compact design
  • Option of device-sharing due to ease of transportation
  • Shorter operation times
