Holmium Laser Energy

The holmium laser energy is strongly absorbed by water; therefore, the laser fiber has to be in close contact to the stone during treatment.  The laser energy causes thermal stress to the stone, causing fragmentation.  Due to the flexibility and control of the system, different treatment techniques can be applied depending upon the location and shape of the stone.
