Peru Acquires Six Dornier Compact Sigma Lithotripters

LIMA, PERU – March 3, 2008 – In an unveiling held at the Presidential Palace, President Alan Garcia Perez announced the acquisition of six Dornier Compact Sigma Lithotripters.  Previously, lithotripsy for the treatment of kidney stones had limited availability to the people of Peru.  These new Compact Sigma lithotripters will be placed in six social security hospitals, three in Lima and three in other parts of the country giving Peruvians an alternative to invasive surgery for kidney stones.

President Perez commented, “This substantial acquisition will be a seal on the legacy that this government will leave for the future of the country.”  This historical purchase was made possible through a United Nations tender and will forever change the healthcare of Peruvians.
